Simple Cleansing Kitchari

Here’s a beautifully simple, cleanse‑friendly Kitchari recipe  It’s gentle on digestion, stabilising for blood sugar, and supportive of cellular cleansing thanks to turmeric, ghee, and the lentil–rice combination.

Autumn is the ideal season for Kitchari because the cooler, drier weather can weaken digestion and create dryness in the body, while Kitchari provides warm, moist, grounding nourishment that stabilises the gut, supports immunity, and gently prepares the system for winter. Its simple, warming ingredients soothe the digestive tract, calm the nervous system, and counter seasonal dryness, while turmeric, ghee, lentils, and brown rice offer steady energy and support natural detox pathways, making it especially helpful during parasite, pathogen, and heavy‑metal cleansing phases when the body benefits from easy‑to-digest, anti‑inflammatory, stabilising foods.

 Ingredients

1 cup brown rice, rinsed

1 cup red lentils (or yellow mung dal), rinsed

1/2 cup  ghee

2 tsp turmeric powder

2 tsp grated ginger or ½ tsp dried ginger (optional but supportive)

4–5 cups water (more for soupy, less for thicker)

½ tsp salt (or to taste)

YOu can also add other spices and herbs to taste and for your own healing regimes.

Method

Warm the ghee in a pot over medium heat.

Stir in turmeric and ginger.

Add the rinsed rice and lentils. Stir to coat in the spices and ghee.

Pour in the water and bring to a gentle boil.

Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 35–45 minutes until soft and creamy.

Add salt at the end and adjust consistency with extra water if needed.

Why this works well as an Autumn  food choice

Turmeric supports cellular cleansing and liver pathways.

Ghee soothes the gut lining and helps carry fat‑soluble toxins out.

Lentils + brown rice provide steady energy without burdening digestion.

Ginger help reduce bloating, aids digestion and reduces inflammation .

You can make a pot of Kitchari and pop it in the fridge to eat over several days. Simply take the portion out that you want to eat and reheat in a clean saucepan.

Enjoy
