How to Cool Down Your Body with 3 Amazing Herbs. Recipe for Summertime Tea

Are you feeling hot and bothered by the summer heat? Do you want to refresh your body and mind with some natural and easy remedies?

If so, you are in luck! In this blog post, I will share with you three of my favourite herbs that you can use to cool down your body, calm your mind, and enjoy your summer days. These herbs are peppermint, lavender, and chamomile.

They are not only delicious and aromatic, but also have many health benefits. You can use them in teas, meals, and skin care products. Read on to find out how to use these herbs to lower your body temperature, prevent heat stress, and soothe your skin.

Lets talk about Heat Stress

Heat stress is a condition that occurs when your body cannot cool itself enough to maintain a healthy temperature. It can be caused by factors such as high temperature, humidity, physical activity, clothing, and dehydration. This can lead to heat exhaustion. The signs of heat stress are headaches, dehydration, nausea, dizziness and a racing pulse with increased heart rate without exercise. 

To prevent heat stress, you should drink plenty of water, avoid alcohol and caffeine, wear light and loose clothing, limit your exposure to the sun, and seek shade or cooler air when possible.

Peppermint, Lavender and Chamomile  

Peppermint has a natural cooling effect because it contains menthol, a chemical that activates the same sensory receptors as cold temperature. When you eat peppermint, drink it or use peppermint on your skin it makes you feel cooler as you are stimulating proteins to create that response. Peppermint helps you sweat more which helps lower body temperature.  Peppermint is a popular digestive tea and helps you cool from the inside outwards, so is a really nice tea to drink in the summer months. 

Lavender is a herb that can help you cool down in the summer by reducing stress, anxiety, and inflammation. It can also help you sleep better and heal burns and wounds. Lavender has a chemical called linalool, which can relax your nervous system and lower your body temperature. Lavender also has a pleasant scent that can calm your mind and mood.

3. Chamomile is a herb that can help you keep cool in the summer by encouraging sweating, soothing inflammation, and easing stress. Sweating is a natural way for your body to regulate its temperature and release toxins. Inflammation can cause heat and pain in your body, and chamomile has anti-inflammatory properties that can reduce swelling and discomfort. Stress can also raise your body temperature and make you feel restless, and chamomile has a calming effect that can relax your mind and muscles.

Recipe for Summertime Tea 

These three herbs can be combined to make a delicious and healthy tea blend that can help you relax and unwind. To make this tea, you will need:

  • 1 teaspoon of dried chamomile flowers
  • 1 teaspoon of dried lavender buds
  • 1 teaspoon of dried peppermint leaves
  • 3 cups of boiling water ( about 900ml ) 
  • Honey or Maple to taste (optional)


  • Place the chamomile, lavender and peppermint in a tea infuser or a small pot.
  • Pour the boiling water over the herbs and let them steep for 10 minutes. 
  • Strain the tea and sweeten with honey or Maple if desired.
  • YOu can cool down in the fridge and then add some ice before drinking and a dash of lemon juice. 
  • Enjoy your soothing and fragrant tea! ☕
