Our Food Lotus system for your digestive wellness!

THE FOOD LOTUS EATING SYSTEM FOR YOUR DIGESTIVE WELLNESS

Hello my friends. Ok today I want you to meet my food lotus system. Its simple and doable and a great way to eat. I like to eat this way and it really helps my body stay healthy when I do.

This is my ideal way to eat and its how I recommend you eat too. Its simple, natural and if you do this most of the time, you will be healthy, resilient and strong.

Let me introduce you to my lotus flower eating system!

Think about a lotus flower and how it opens up in the day and closes down in the night. When it opens in the morning it takes in little nourishment, then as the day progresses it takes its full fill of sunlight and openness when the sun is at its highest…. then you can eat your main meal and then as the day goes to night the lotus closes off again, so you would stop eating again for the night and then wait a full 12 to 16 hours before you eat again.

Combine this divine timing with a balanced diet and you can join me in eating like a lotus flower!

By balanced diet I mean that you can follow my personal food lotus system

50% is  biggest section which is fresh fruits and vegetables, this also includes complex carbohydrates from plant based sources such as breads, pasta and rice!

next I have quality protein sources  which is 30%  such as tofu, tempeh, eggs, fresh local meats if you eat them, fresh local seafoods if you eat them, protein powders. cheese, yoghurt,  hemp seeds, specific protein combinations in vegan and veg diets that make up complete protein. Nut milks, milks generally if you drink them. All of these are optional depending on your personal choices.

Then we have oils and fatty acids which can be about 10 %  like chia seeds, monounsaturated fatty oils, plant based essential fatty acids, omega 3, 6, 9 in ratio of two x omega three to 1 x other two. coconut oils.  you need fatty acids in your diet… so make it 10% including what you cook in and what you add to salad dressings, sauces etc. Don’t count your protein choices such as cheese in here please. make this section the good oils!

And we have our favourite herbals which make up 10% of your diet. This is all those fresh herbs from the garden and conscious additions of medicinal herbals and spices to your diet.  Yes I’ve added in the turmeric, garlic, ginger, chilli, basil, parsley, thyme, rosemary, spices, and all those wonderful things we add to our diet to keep us healthy. And, if you read my books you will know what to do with them all and turn them into awesome healthy vinegars, oils, salts, honeys etc etc…. so delish.  This also includes herbals in teas and drinks. Herbal extractions come into this part too. Adding little shots of herbals into your meal plans and taking some before dinner as a digestive bitters, taking some before bed to help you relax, taking some in the morning to strengthen you body.. its important.

Now the raw to cooked ratio changes with the seasons , as as the weather gets colder many of my patients are sitting at a 50% raw to cooked ratio at the moment. Keep that up as long as you can and have raw fruits and vegetables each day making up 50% of your diet. You can decrease this as the weather becomes cooler or on really cold days and go into the warm nourishment of cooked foods.

Personally I am always at my physical strongest when I have regular detox days and fasting days in water, after I finish the detox and return to a really good diet, I feel stronger and more resilient than before the detox. Its pretty simple to work out why that is… its because I have moved out toxins and freed my body to feel clean and clear. That is physically, mentally and emotionally.

Having a balanced diet that feels good to you. Make everything you eat a feel good food. It can be nurturing, nourishing, delicious and clean food. Keep away from packaged foods, things that come in plastic wrapping and especially those dreaded preservatives and additives that make fresh food last ten times its normal shelf life. Be super careful with breads that you buy and also anything thats been on a long transport chain. I know this advice is fairly normal all year around, but right now we want develop our resilience and fresh is best!

Make your portion sizes reasonable and not too big. Think about your fist clenched and thats the size of your stomach when you have chewed your food and swallowed it… thats not that much. so you are better eating smaller portions and more often.. then you get to enjoy every mouth full and your body gets to assimilate it better, making awesome healthy cells.

Hope you enjoy trying this way of eating. Please chat with us about his system when we see each other next. Or you can book a Skype consult with me online if you are not living near Sunshine Coast Australia.
