Lets talk about Wild Yam and why is so popular now. Dioscorea villosa

Let's talk about a trending hormonal herb that everyone wants right now.

Dioscorea villosa (Wild Yam)

Everyone wants Wild Yam cream, and everyone wants us to add wild yam into your herbal extractions. And for good reason.

Wild yam is widely used for many women at all stages of life, and  particularly. perimenopausal and menopausal women because it contains diosgenin, a plant compound that mimics certain hormonal effects in the body. While the body cannot directly convert diosgenin into estrogen or progesterone, it is believed to have hormone-balancing properties that support women's health.

Why Is Wild Yam Popular?

Wild yam is valued for its ability to:

Hormonal Support – Wild yam contains diosgenin, a plant compound that may help regulate estrogen and progesterone-like activity, making it popular for menopausal and perimenopausal women.

Menopause & PMS Relief – Some women use wild yam tea to ease hot flashes, mood swings, and menstrual discomfort.

Anti-Inflammatory Properties – It may help reduce joint pain and inflammation, making it beneficial for conditions like rheumatoid arthritis.

Blood Sugar Regulation – Some studies suggest wild yam may help stabilize blood sugar levels, which could be useful for diabetes management.

Digestive Health – Traditionally, wild yam tea has been used to soothe digestive issues, including cramps and bloating.

What Does Wild Yam Do That Other Herbs Don’t?

Unlike some other herbal remedies, wild yam is unique because:

It contains diosgenin, which has been studied for its potential to mimic estrogen and progesterone.

It may help regulate menstrual cycles and ease hormonal fluctuations across different life stages.

Some research suggests it could have anti-inflammatory properties, making it beneficial for conditions like rheumatoid arthritis.

It has been explored for its ability to support fertility and reproductive health.

As you know we make wild yam extraction here at Medicine Room . It can be used both internally and topically

Internal Use. How to take liquid Wild Yam extraction that we prescribe you at Medicine Room.

Wild yam extract is often used to support hormonal balance, digestion, and anti-inflammatory benefits. Here’s how you can use it:

Dosage: Typically, 5ml per 20 kilos body weight  diluted in water or juice, 1–3 times daily. Start with a lower dose and adjust based on tolerance.

Best Time to Take: It’s often taken before meals to aid digestion or in the evening before bed  for hormonal support.

Precautions: Avoid excessive use, as wild yam is not directly converted into hormones in the body. Consult a healthcare provider if you have hormonal conditions or are pregnant/nursing.

Topical Use from the extract at home for your hormonal support.

Wild yam extract is commonly applied to the skin for hydration, anti-aging, and hormonal support:

Application: Mix a few drops with a carrier oil (like coconut or almond oil) and massage into areas prone to dryness or hormonal sensitivity (such as wrists, abdomen, or inner thighs).

Frequency: Apply once or twice daily for best results.

Precautions: Perform a patch test before full application to check for skin sensitivity.
