How herbs can help you cope with change!

The milestones in life can be small, or they can be big.... the one thing they have in common is that life as we know it will never be the same again! I read a post on social media last week. It said " the price you pay for the life you desire is the life you have now" That really hit home and brought up thoughts on change and our consciousness around that topic. So, what is the best way to look after yourself during times of change? whether its happy or sad.... you still need to find balance. 

Coping with these changes can be easier when we support our bodies. One of my favourite classes of herbs for this are the adaptogens. Yes, they help us adapt. Adapt to the inevitable changes that don't need to be frightening and unsure. THink eleutherococcus ginseng, bacopa moniera, ( brahmi) , schisandra berry, astragalus, ganoderma mushroom, gotu kola and withania. These herbs all hep us to cope in times of change and help our whole body. Everything from hormonal support of adrenal hormones to emotional support and physical body energising. Thats what I love about his class of herbs... They cover lots of areas and help you stay on top of your game. Taking a dose of herbal extractions can make all the difference. 

What makes you feel good during these tricky moments? Some times its hard to see around the corner and into the light of your life. We get caught in the moment of change and slip into the past. What we did right, what we did wrong, how we would do things over again, did we do enough? Are we prepared for the moment? well yes you are... you are always in exactly the right place and time. We need to step up into our bliss and put one foot in front of the other moving into the changes that are inevitable 

Thats when we also need to look after our nervous system.  Taking herbs like chamomile, st johns wort, oat straw, passion flower, valerian, lemon balm and hops can all help balance and soothe over heightened emotions. Drinking relaxing herbal teas and taking the extracts all help you cope better. Water therapies are excellent, swimming, bathing, feeling water against your skin is one way to calm the nervous system and refresh your energy. 

Ginkgo biloba is also great for stress and whole body support in times of change. As are many other herbals when prescribed suitably for the moment. Sometimes we need to bring down the excitement and the speed of anticipation. Other times we need to quieten the mind and nervous system, and sometimes we need to bring in energies of acceptance, patience or reduce fear of the change.... The change might be the most wonderful one... or it could be really hard and painful. Whatever the case you will be stressing your body and mind as you experience this.
