Heres my back story for Medicineroom at Woodfordia!
Hello Lovelies,
We are deep in preparation mode for the upcoming Woodford Folk Festival. We have been going out there since I was invited to 2005/06 Festival to present my book The Wellness Zone in its first edition. Since then its been a relationship of love and I can tell you how much we love to get involved with the health and wellness of everyone who comes there!
This pic was taken at the " Blue Lotus " venue and it could be any morning in the event as people gather for some morning yoga, dance, meditation and live music to set up their festival day!
In 2006/07 Festival I was invited to program the new " Folk Medicine" program and my role there is to bring yoga, wellness, health, and emerging wellness trends as well as traditional academic trends in health to the festival. This pic says a lot as the expansion of our patrons interest in health and wellness has expanded so much in the last 13 years and I am honoured to be co ordinating this aspect of our event.
This invitation was something that led me to study further and in 2013 I graduated from USC with a Master degree in Public health/ health promotion. It was such an important aspect to add to my previous degree in Complementary medicine because it showed me how important health promotion in non traditional settings was to the future of health care globally. Yes festivals have a rightful place in health care!
We then decided to take the herbal dispensary and my current crew of Tamara, Darina, Jahvis, Alex and Andy get us set up and get us rolling into the event offering free community clinics, herbal first aid and our beautiful products. That started about ten years ago with just me and one helper working huge hours in the medicineroom as well my role with programming and program management for folk medicine and the Blue lotus venue. I have eternal gratefulness to all my crews and teams of vols who have stood by my side and supported my dual roles as well as helped run the whole show with joy, love and grace! Our crews just keep coming back year after year and they are like family to me now! Our Festival family are so important to the success of the event.

I love my Woodfordia family. The people I work with all year to get this show in action and the people who come and share the experience with me. My vols, presenters, crew, fellow programmers, office admins, bosses and friends. Its a place where we celebrate life and we celebrate growth, passion, potential, hard work and dedication. The festival has taught me so much and I am grateful to everyone who experiences these moments with me.
