This is our awesome herbal sugar scrub.
Sugar scrubs are used to replace soaps and moisturisers for whole body exfoliation. They nourish skin, open pores, remove dead skin cells, freshen up your whole body and increase circulation. They also are a great delivery of herbs and essential oils that travel through your blood to the whole internal body.
There are a few good uses for sugar and they usually don't include ingestion, except as a sugar garnish around the edge of your festive cocktail. In this recipe we use sugar instead of salt, because it has a great exfoliant quality and our skin feels super soft and delicious when we rinse this off.
Look at this beautiful herbal mush!
This is a lemon myrtle and basil body scrub. We used Olive oil.
Take 1 bag of Australian organic raw sugar ( 500 grams. Double recipe for 1kg and halve recipe for 250 grams)
Add 700 ml of Extra virgin olive oil. ( or you could add macadamia oil, a blend of olive and sesame, avocado oil. Any monosaturated plant based oil is great. Think almond, apricot, sunflower)
Mix together with 50ml of Lemon Myrtle essential oil and a big cupful of freshly diced garden basil. Mis all together well with a spoon.
Mix and pour into jars, making sure you distribute the oily bits equal amongst the jars.
Add the lid and decorate with some old fabric and a ribbon.
